QR CODES: E-Tickets and Dynamic Marketing

QR Codes Apps, iphone app, android app, electronic business card, qr codeIn our continuous search for new and marvelous uses for that new technology known as QR Codes, we have found two are not just amazing but that can really up the ante on the way this technology can be used today.

For one let’s talk about ticket systems. We all know that the advent of the Internet simplified the way in which we buy tickets for any event of our choosing, wether it is a wrestling extravaganza or the latest Selena Gomez concert, we can order our tickets weeks and even months in advance, One of the ideas that has came along has been the use of bar codes so people can print out their “tickets” and gain access to the event of their choosing. But this also represents the need to print, and all that comes along. So, although a good idea, it could get better. Enter QR Codes and QR Code Readers. So, what’s the new idea you ask? Well, you buy your ticket, and you get an image sent to your mobile phone (provided that you have a smart phone with a screen big enough to display it and to be able to receive either MMS or e-mail messages in the first place).  You bring your phone to the venue, people will in turn use a QR Code Reader and voilá! Your in. Of course, once your code is read, it’ll be marked as used and it won’t be usable again.

So as you can see, this solution eliminates the need for printing and allows for event organizers to have better control of people attending and making access even easier and faster for everyone. Cool ain’t it?

Well, there another interesting application for QR Codes. We already talked about their use in marketing didn’t we? Well, there’s a new variation that helps companies save in printing costs by allowing them to have one single QR Code in their materials but with the content changing on a timely and pre-determined basis.

But… if the information is encapsulated within the code when it’s generated… how can it change afterwards? Well, because there’s now a way of using the same QR Code but with constant changes of where it’ll take you. How? Because the URL where you’ll be sent upon scanning of the code, will be determined not on the code itself but on the server the code will sent you.

So for purposes of having an expectation campaign or a clue-based contest, this kind of QR Codes are perfect as you need to print them only once, and have the ability to change their behavior whenever you need and choose to.

Incredible isn’t it? Well, that’s the reality of QR Codes today and how, literally on a daily basis, more and more applications are appearing. We’ll be back with more soon, and remember, visit http://www.yprintit.com to check our own QR Code application for electronic business card management.
