As if we haven’t seen enough industries and innovative uses for QR Codes these days, a new industry has found in QR Code technology a powerful tool to sell their products, in this case, real estate property.  Believe it or not. And we’re going to talk about it right now.

Real Estate has been going through a very rough time nowadays, everyday thousands of Americans face foreclosure on their homes and Real Estate agents are now busier than ever looking for ways to sell properties that can maximize both their time and the prospective buyer’s time as well.

Hence came QR Codes and the increasing and unstoppable use of smartphones and camera enabled tablet computers. What began as an inventory control tool became the tool of choice for many, and in this case Real Estate agents.

How? Well, as you may know, prices for advertising in specialized magazines are high, therefore you need to optimize what you put on it to guarantee a return of investment. QR Code technology came as the perfect way to not just save in advertising but also to give prospective buyers a whole preview of a property by just scanning a code from the ad in the magazine.

Real Estate agents are now capable of using QR Codes to point to websites where the buyers can see photographs, videos and 3D tours of the properties that are for sale without leaving their home or office, this of course represents a very important advantage for the agents as only those really interested parties will ask them for an on-site visit of the property, increasing their chances of closing the sale.

This makes a Real Estate agent more efficient as each on-site meeting will be with a p

otential buyer, instead of someone that might just be interesting in seeing IF the property MIGHT be of interest. Furthermore, using dynamic QR Codes, Real Estate agents can use the same QR Code and link it to a new property site as they are sold, without having to print a new ad for example; this is especially useful when using advertising in video screens on buildings or malls.

Also, big Real Estate firms can create their own custom QR Code reader so people can have more choices when checking for properties, like for example, scan the code of a property when passing by and get an instant quote on it, without having to call an agent to get it.

    It’s important to note that QR Codes are not the only way to connect offline to online. A comprehensive mobile marketing strategy would also contain the following options to connect the consumer to a mobile experience in their mobile:
    - SMS- Email- Phone
    Also it’s important to understand that mobile internet usage is much different than PC internet usage. Once you get them from the physical paper (or sign) into your mobile experience, make sure the experience is thought through for mobile.
    I keep seeing QR codes misused in the Real Estate industry ( and others ). Whatever you do, don’t point the code to a website that’s meant to be shown in a big screen ! :)
